Olivier Theyskens

Artistic direction

In 1997, at age 20, Olivier Theyskens founded his brand and presented a gothic collection titled Gloomy Trips in Paris. The instant success of the collection was cemented by Madonna wearing one of his black dresses to the Academy Awards in 1998. In 2002, Theyskens became the artistic director of the house of Rochas, a position he occupied for four years, before becoming the artistic director of Nina Ricci until 2009. In 2010, the American brand Theory invited him to imagine a capsule collection that would be a commercial success. He became the artistic director of Theory and its collections for the new Theyskens’ Theory line until 2014. His eponymous brand presents its collection twice a year as part of Paris Fashion Week. Since 2022, he has been a guest professor in artistic direction and collection design for Fashion Design students of the Master of Arts at IFM.
