Master of Arts students win the Knit Design Award
Since 2016, Loro Piana has enabled the emergence of new designers by creating the Knit Design Award. This award celebrates talented students from top design schools worldwide who are passionate about knitwear.
The 6th edition challenge was to reinterpret Loro Piana's Traveler Jacket in "a personal knit version, combining tradition and the future, the art of tailoring and experimentation". The project was presented in front of a jury composed of Damien Bertrand, CEO of Loro Piana, Sara Sozzani Maino of Vogue Italia, Stylenotcom founder Beka Gvishiani, mesh designer Chet Lo and TikTok influencer and content creator Letizia Schätzinger.
Two MA students, Shanon Poupard and Po-Chieh Chiu won the prize along with the director of Knitwear Studies at IFM, Adam Jones.
To celebrate their victory, they were invited to exhibit their pieces at Pitti Filati, a trade show showcasing yarns for the knitwear industry in Florence, Italy. For the first time, the House has also offered a one-year contract for the two talented and creative students, who will have the chance to work closely with the artisans and designers of the Loro Piana workshop.
