A Europe-wide strategy for fashion and luxury
The IFM was closely involved with the European Commission's action
plan for a Europe-wide strategy for the fashion and luxury industries
going forward (the document was presented in London on Tuesday December
3rd 2013 by Antonio Tajani, European Commissioner for Industry and Entrepreneurship and Vice-President of the Commission).
The action plan was put together in tandem with Euratex (European Textile and Clothing Confederation), ECCIA (European Cultural and Creative Industries Alliance), and other important players in fashion and the high-end industries (companies and federations), and is the result of a wide-ranging consultation with all those involved and contained a series of initiatives to reinforce the competiveness of these industries..
"The most important objective is to create an environment in
which companies operating in the various industrial value chains are
able to operate in the right conditions so as to be able to successfully
compete in a globalized world and therefore encouraged to maintain
investments and re-invest in Europe. Today's roadmap for future
initiatives is an important step in recognising the important
contribution our industries are making to Europe's prosperity"
(Alberto Paccanelli, President of Euratex).
