The BSc in Management for Fashion and Creative Industries is a 3-year program taught in English which aims to train the future generation of creative managers, with a solid background in management and humanities and a keen understanding of the languages of creation.

You will be prepared for careers in a sector in which creation has a central role. Fashion, luxury, beauty, perfumes, sport, entertainment... all these industries place creation, art and aesthetic at the heart of their productions. Often embodied by a creative director or a brand, the creative industries are also distinguished by their ability to capture the "zeitgeist" and to be in a state of constant innovation.

The program benefits from the unparalleled links that Institut Français de la Mode has forged over many years with fashion houses and companies in the fashion and creative industries (Chanel, Dior, Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Chloé, Adidas, L'Oréal, see more here.), as well as the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, which organises Paris Fashion Week.

Accreditation

The BSc in Management for Fashion and Creative Industries leads to a diploma "chef de projet mode et industries créatives" conferring the "grade de licence" by the Ministry of Higher Education: Official Bulletin (BOESR) n°7 of 16 February 2023, by order of 25 January 2023.

It is also registered at level 6 “Bachelor level” with the Répertoire National des Certifications Professionnelles (RNCP 37694). This entitles the non-EU students who have graduated from the program to obtain the Autorisation Provisoire de Séjour (Temporary Stay Authorization) allowing them to work in France for a year and in some cases longer.

Experiential learning

The course pedagogy is a mix of theory and practice: you will have access to a diversity of teaching formats, projects, cases, and practical workshops to develop your agility, nourish a 360° approach and feed your curiosity.

Le Grand Bain

On your arrival, you will participate in, together with BA Fashion Design students, an intensive one-week program of creative industry immersion through workshops, visits and meetings. This immersive program will give you an insight into the fundamentals of Paris as a "creative capital": this cultural exploration will help you to identify key references drawn from history, architecture, literature, art, cinema... It will also allow you to identify the dynamics at the crossroads of creative activities and industries (fashion, luxury, design, gastronomy, media, contemporary art, video games...), while understanding the economic structures at work in a given territory: urbanization, the educational system and the role of politics.

Projects

Each year, you will have the opportunity to work on one or more concrete projects under real-life conditions. Drawing on the cross-knowledge acquired in the management, humanities and creation courses, you will work in groups with other students in the program, but also, depending on the project, with students of IFM's BA in Fashion Design or students of other schools, in communication. These projects may also take place in partnership with brands, associations, or media. They can be very short (hackathon type) or spread over several weeks and will allow you to put your knowledge into play in a concrete and applied way.

A few examples of projects, among others:

  • Social networks: defining the strategy, implementation and animation for a brand (TikTok, Instagram...)
  • Entrepreneurial project: developing an innovative concept and building a business plan
  • Trends and data: deciphering zeitgeist using qualitative and quantitative methods (data analysis, etc.)
  • Magazine / Podcast / Video: working on the layout and content of a digital or paper media
  • Documentary: observing social phenomena and translating them into video format

Internships

Between the first and second year, this program allows you to spend between 5 and 8 months on an internship:

  • A compulsory 1-month internship or mission (humanitarian, entrepreneurial, etc) in Year 1
  • A compulsory 4-month internship or mission (humanitarian, entrepreneurial, etc) in Year 2

At the end of the Bachelor's degree, two options are open:

  • Continue your higher education studies in a Master's degree in France or abroad, for example in marketing, communications, digital marketing, sustainability management, sales management, entrepreneurship & innovation.
  • Start your professional career directly in the creative industries in junior management positions in fields related to products (product management, merchandising...), distribution (retail, e-commerce...), or communications.

In order to refine their project, students benefit from counselling sessions and workshops coordinated by the Business and Careers Department.

The Business and Careers Department aims to foster relationships between students and IFM partner companies and to support entry into professional life by offering various meeting opportunities and internship offers during schooling. This proximity to the professional network of the sector constitutes precious support in the continuity of the course of each student.

Upon completion of schooling, the active alumni network is also a vital resource for the career development of graduates in the sector. Various events are offered to graduates, allowing useful and targeted exchanges as well as a strong link with the IFM ecosystem (companies and Alumni Association) throughout their careers.

Upon admission into the program, the selected candidates will need to pay a deposit to confirm their spot in the program (€4,000 for EU students and €6,000 for non EU students). These amounts may be adjusted for the recipients of an IFM Foundation need-based scholarship whose remaining fees are less than the amount of the deposit.

Scholarships

Thanks to the sponsorship of company members of Institut Français de la Mode's Foundation, need-based scholarships are available for EU citizens.

To apply for a scholarship, please complete the scholarship application form downloadable from the application website or the Parcoursup platform and submit it with the application form. No applications will be accepted after you have submitted your application form. Scholarship applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible. Please consult the “frequently asked questions” section if you are completing a scholarship application.

Admissions requirements

The BSc in Management for Fashion and creative industries is open to students who hold a high school Baccalaureate or equivalent (A-level, Abitur, etc). All specializations are welcome. Fluent English is required.

Admissions process

The admissions process consists of two steps:

  1. Eligibility: submission of a detailed online application file. Please note there is a non-refundable €60 application fee.
  2. Admission: an online interview with a jury composed of faculty members

Applications via Parcoursup

To find out whether you should apply on the Parcoursup or not, please refer to this guidance chart. If you are preparing for or holding a French baccalauréat and wish to apply for the first year of the BSc, you must apply through the Parcoursup platform and not directly on our website. Selected candidates will be invited to an online interview with faculty members.

International applications

If you are preparing or hold an international diploma equivalent to the French baccalaureate (A-Level, IB, Abitur, International Baccalaureate...), you should apply on the IFM website by clicking on "Apply".

The application file will include documents related to your background and education (CV, transcripts of the last 2 years of high-school), questions to assess your project and your motivation. You will find below the list of documents that you will be asked to scan and upload in PDF format into the application platform.

Required documents:

  • Curriculum vitae
  • Academic transcripts from the last two years of high school (and all post-high-school transcripts if applicable). The transcripts and degrees must be translated into French or English by a certified translator.
  • All applicants are required to submit one of the following English language test score reports:
    • TOEFL iBT: minimum score 79-95
    • IELTS Academic: minimum score of 6.5
    • CAMBRIDGE: minimum score of 176

Applicants may be exempted to provide an English test score report if:

  • They have lived for the last 3 years in a country where English is the FIRST official language
  • They are preparing or hold an IB (International Baccalaureate)
  • They are native English speakers

English test scores must be no older than 2 years at the application deadline of the round you choose to apply to.

Optional:

If you would like to apply for an IFM Foundation scholarship (for students who are citizens of the European Union and aged 29 or under on September 1 of the academic year), please complete and submit the scholarship application form downloadable from the application site.

This program is accessible through the VAE (Validation of Acquired Experience) system. Find out how to apply on the VAE website.

Admission to the 2nd year

Direct admission to the 2nd year of the Bachelor's program is possible for candidates who have already completed one year of study at a higher education institution. Candidates must provide proof of having obtained 60 ECTS (or the equivalent outside the European Union) in the 1st year, before the start of the academic year in September.
Candidates must start their application by clicking on "Apply" on our website, and tick the 2nd year box in the questionnaire.

However, direct admissions to the 3rd year of the Bachelor's program are not possible.

Application process

Should I apply through Parcoursup or on the 'Apply' button of the webpage?

To find out whether you should apply on the Parcoursup or not, please refer to this guidance chart.

Admission to 1st year is compulsory via the Parcoursup platform for:

  • students preparing for or holding a French diploma (CAP, BP, Baccalauréat, BTS, etc.)
  • students in binational sections (Abibac, Bachibac, Esabac)
  • students (French and international) who have begun their studies in a French higher education establishment (including foundation courses) or in a foreign establishment but whose campus is in France, whatever the language of instruction.

These candidates should not apply on the IFM website.

In all other cases, you must apply via the “Apply” button on this page.

How many places are available on the BSc?

We will be making 90 places available as of September 2025.

Does the Bachelor programme only accept students from certain academic backgrounds?

We accept candidates from all academic backgrounds as long as they hold a high school diploma and meet the entry requirements detailed online.

What documents are required to complete the application file?

Parcoursup applicants: please refer to the requested documents and questions on the Parcoursup platform.

Applicants outside of Parcoursup: the BSc application file is made up of school-related elements: CV, report cards for the last 2 years of high school (and all higher education report cards if applicable), language test (ELTS Academic: 6.5, TOEFL iBT: 79-95, Cambridge: 176). It also includes questions to assess the candidate's project and motivation.

Do international candidates need to include a cover letter in their application?

Yes, it is necessary to include a cover letter in your application.

Do you request an English language certificate?

All applicants are required to submit one of the following English language test score reports:

  • TOEFL iBT: minimum score 79-95
  • IELTS Academic: minimum score of 6.5
  • CAMBRIDGE: minimum score of 176

Applicants may be exempted to provide an English test score report if:

  • They have lived for the last 3 years in a country where English is the FIRST official language

Will the interview be held in English or French?

The entirety of the interview will be held in English.

Do candidates need to be able to speak French?

No, it is not necessary to be able to speak French as the programme is taught in English. However, we will be providing French language classes for those who cannot speak French so that they are able to fully experience life in France and prepare for a professional career in France if they so choose.

Can you explain the interview format?

The interview takes place remotely on MS Teams. The test begins with an exercise calling on the candidate's ability to think and synthesize through the analysis of a visual. When the candidate is received by the members of the jury, they give him or her a visual. Candidates are then given 5 minutes to prepare their image analysis. The presentation of this image analysis is the starting point for discussions with the members of the jury. The interview lasts between 20 and 30 minutes.

How long after the interviews do we receive the admission results?

My application has been rejected. Can I find out why?

Eligibility and admission results are final. Due to the high number of applications, we are unfortunately unable to provide individual feedback to each candidate.

My application has not been selected; can I try again in another session?

No. You can choose your session, but you can only apply once a year, and only twice.

Is direct admission in 2nd or 3rd year possible?

Direct admission to the 2nd year of the Bachelor's program is possible for candidates who have already completed one year of study at a higher education institution. Candidates must provide proof of having obtained 60 ECTS (or the equivalent outside the European Union) in the 1st year, before the start of the academic year in September.

Candidates must start their application by clicking on “Apply” on our website, and tick the 2nd year box in the drop-down menu.

However, direct admissions to the 3rd year of the Bachelor are not authorized.

What is the nature of the diploma issued?

The BSc in Management for Fashion and Creative Industries leads to a diploma "chef de projet mode et industries créatives" conferring the "grade de licence" by the Ministry of Higher Education: Official Bulletin (BOESR) n°7 of 16 February 2023, by order of 25 January 2023.

Are the Bachelor's courses taught on campus or online?

The program is designed to be followed on campus, with a small proportion of e-learning courses.

Is it possible to follow another course at Institut Français de la Mode after obtaining a Bachelor's degree?

Graduates of the Bachelor will be able to apply to IFM's MSc in International Fashion & Luxury Management or the Fashion Image pathway of the Master of Arts in Fashion Design. They will, however, have to follow the two-stage selection process to which all applicants for these courses are subject.

Financing your studies

Are scholarships available to fund the Bachelor programme?

Scholarships are granted with the support of the IFM Foundation, subject to financial conditions. They are available to students from the European Union who are under 30 years of age on September 1 of the academic year concerned.

Scholarships are awarded based on social criteria only.

Parcoursup applicants can download the scholarship application form at the bottom of the BSc program page on the Parcoursup platform, in the “support for success” section.

Non-Parcoursup applicants can download the scholarship application file from the IFM website application platform.

I did not send my need-based scholarship application with my application, can I apply for a scholarship later?

Unfortunately not. Scholarship applications are examined at the latest at the time of the admission jury and no further applications can be considered.

Can applying for a scholarship be detrimental to my application?

No. The scholarship application has no impact on the selection process.

Is there an increase in tuition fees for 3rd year students going on an exchange?

There will be no increase in tuition fees for students going on an exchange semester abroad in the 3rd year. On the other hand, all non-academic costs (costs of academic supplies and equipment, living, accommodation, travel costs) are to be paid by the student.

If I repeat a year, does the scholarship continue?

No, the scholarship is not renewed when you repeat a year.

What are the conditions of payment of the tuition fees?

The tuition fees should be paid yearly. Once accepted, you will have to confirm your place with a non refundable deposit of €4,000 for EU students and €6,000 for non-UE students. The remaining yearly fee can either be paid in full in September or in two installments (schedule of payment will be provided when enrolling).

Budget and cost of living in Paris

The cost of living and studying in Paris is very dependent on your type of accommodation and lifestyle. For reference a basic budget could include at least €800 for accommodation, €220 for meals, €30 for metro transportation, €180 for leisure and €150 for other expenses, for a total of approximately €1,380 per month.

Is it possible to work while studying at IFM ?

Due to the intensity of the classes at IFM, students do not have the time to work. However, some students choose to take on a 1 day per week position (Saturday or Sunday) in order to help finance their academic year.

Practical information

Do I need a visa for France?

If you are a citizen of the European Economic Area, your national ID or passport is enough. For students outside the European Economic Area, a student visa is necessary (Visa VLS-TS). French law demands that you have “sufficient means” at your disposal to study without having to work. For visa application information and the necessary documents, please refer to the CampusFrance website. IFM sends the official acceptance letter, necessary to start your visa application after the non-refundable deposit has been paid.

Does IFM have a Campus? Dormitories?

Institut Français de la Mode is a nonresidential campus, offering on three levels, 9 000 m2 of classrooms, design studios, knitwear and leather workshops, a fab lab, a Photo Studio and a documentation center.

There is no on-campus Housing, however our academic support teams will transfer offers from landlords.

Once accepted, all students receive a “student handbook” where tips, suggestions and partnerships are presented.

Students can also refer to the www.ciup.fr for specific information about student dormitory-type housing.

Do you have an Instagram account dedicated to the BSc program?
