"Clean girl", "blockette", "mob wife", just aesthetics or something more?
These microtrends, born on social media and brough into reality. This course explores the fast-moving world of social media trends and, especially, how the stylist's role is influenced through them.
From tracing the origins of digital trends to translating them into fashion imagery, this course combines cultural analysis, creative direction, and styling.

Audience

Open to 16 years old or older. No prerequisites. The tutor is bilingual in English and French. Basic English required.

Objectives

  • To develop a critical understanding of how microtrends emerge and evolve on social media
  • To recognize the influence of digital aesthetics on contemporary fashion and styling
  • To conceptualize and execute a styling idea inspired by a micro trend
  • To collaborate creatively in the development and production of a fashion photoshoot
  • To reflect on and present one's own creative process in final presentation

Program

Do these microtrends hold any cultural relevance? Perhaps they could even be considered the subcultures of our time, as they do have influence on many luxury house collections.
This course introduces you to the world of fashion microtrends and the evolving role of the stylist within the digital landscape.
You will learn how trends go viral, where they come from, how they influence styling choices, and how to translate them into impactful fashion imagery. By the end of the course, you will have styled your own silhouette based on a selected trend and participated in a creative photoshoot, producing content that speaks the visual language of today’s platforms.

Tutor

Juliana Müller is a social media consultant and producer with a background in accessory design. After completing her BA in Accessory Design, she pursued a Master's in Fashion Image at IFM, focusing on internet phenomena and social media trends, exploring their cultural depth and how they can be meaningfully adapted by fashion brands. Juliana has previously worked in the image departments of emerging Parisian jewelry labels and interned with the bags team at LOEWE. She now works freelance as a creative producer and consultant, helping brands navigate the digital landscape through strategy, content, and storytelling.

Certificate

At the end of the program, a certificate of participation in the Summer School is issued to participants who have attended all courses.

To register, simply fill in the online form and pay the required deposit. On receipt of the online form, the application is studied by the Summer School team. Once the application has been accepted, an email is sent specifying the payment schedule for the balance of the registration fee. If the application is not accepted, the deposit will be refunded.

How can I apply?

On reception of the application form, the application is reviewed by the Summer School team. Once the application is accepted, the participant will receive a confirmation email with the instructions for payment (deposit and balance of the registration fee).

Please note that registration is confirmed only after payment of the deposit.

Fees & Scholarship

Can I apply for a scholarship?

IFM scholarships are available thanks to the generous sponsorship of the IFM Foundation. They are reserved for High-School Summer programs only.

Scholarships are available in a limited number and are need-based. They may cover up to 75% of tuition fees and are restricted to one demand per year and per participant. In case of registration to several programs, one grant only can be given.

Campus

Are travel and accommodation costs included?

Travel and accommodation costs in Paris are the responsibility of each participant. IFM can recommend, upon request, different options for accommodation and help foreign students in organizing their stay.

Practical information

What are the registration procedures for foreign students?

Participants from outside the European Union must ensure, if necessary, that they have a valid visa for France. Upon request and after full payment of the course, IFM will send the participant a letter confirming registration in order to support the visa application. IFM will also send you a visa guide upon request.

Important: 15 calendar days are necessary for consular authorities to treat visa request, sometimes longer in the high season.

If you are non-French you must ensure you are covered by your health insurance during your stay.
