Objectives
Fashion’s objective today is to sell products, it does this through carefully created images. The influence of a fashion stylist has never been so great, nor the creative dimension of their role. This course takes you into the world of a fashion stylist and explains what that entails. You will explore how the images in fashion magazines/campaigns are created. You will understand the stylist’s role in their creation and also discover the other fashion professions involved. Using your new skills and acquired knowledge you too will style like a stylist and create your own silhouette.
Program
- The emergence of the stylist within the history of fashion photography
- Discover the role, influence and required skill set of a fashion stylist
- Participate in a live talk from an established insdustry guest
- Examine the impact of imagery through analysis of existing fashion campaigns
- Role and importance of a mood board to create an image
- Define your own styling theme an create your own mood board
- The creative elements to turn the mood board into an image: photographer, hair stylist, makeup artist, casting, styling…
- Collective and individual art and fashion research for your styling theme
- Individual meetings with the tutor of the programme providing personal styling theme guidance
- Exploration the second-hand and hidden thrift of Paris to source pieces for your own styling session
- Learning to edit pieces and experiment in creating silhouettes as a stylist
- Shooting of your chosen styled silhouette using the Institut Français de la Mode photo studio
- Pitch your final silhouette and mood board as you would to your editor/client
Tutor
Natalie Yuksel is a creative director, stylist, brand consultant and costume designer with a BA (Hons) in Fashion Studies from the London College of Fashion (UAL). She began her career in Paris with Mixte magazine and played a key role in launching Grazia France with Mondadori. Later, she served as Fashion Director of Libération Next.
Transitioning from corporate publishing, Natalie founded her own creative consulting company, working with luxury fashion, high jewellery, and accessory brands. Her services expanded to include costume design (e.g. Bollywood), live presenting (e.g. Moncler’s first Instagram shopping event), and teaching at prestigious institutions like IFM and École Duperré, where she also designed her own courses.
Combining creativity and business acumen, Natalie produces content and visuals that drive audience engagement and sales.
Certificate
At the end of the program, a certificate of participation in the Summer School is issued to participants who have attended all courses.
